A hot-dip galvanizing plant within the buffer zone of a Natura 2000 site? An industrial facility adjacent to Hortobágyi National Park?

Adaptation was the fundamental design attitude.

In this project, the environment sets the terms, the technology defines its requirements, and architecture responds by following the laws of nature. The Tisza landscape sets the tone.

The architectural form is simply a consequence rather than an autonomous gesture — an expression of the morphology and of the complex requirements arising from the fully enclosed high-tech industrial process, acoustic protection, a non-reflective and recessive building colour, vegetated façades, the minimisation of artificial light spill, energy-recovery building services, and the utilisation of solar energy.

Through an integrated design approach, water consumption, pollutant emissions, stormwater management and light pollution can all be kept within stringent regulatory limits. As a result, the presence of a Natura 2000 site is no longer a paradox.

The landscape design is rooted in the native flora of the Tisza’s oxbow lakes, drawing on the characteristic vegetation of these riparian habitats.

Our aim was to translate these diverse requirements into a coherent architectural form — one that is integrated into the landscape, unified in its expression, and efficient and economical in operation.
